Under the direction of Franz-Olivier Giesbert, the Nice Book Festival welcomes more than 200 writers each year (novelists, essayists, poets, historians, polemicists, politicians, celebrities). It will be inaugurated on May 31 by Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Côte d'Azur Metropolis, Deputy President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region.
Meetings, book signings, readings, shows, animations, discoveries and debates will be on the programme of this 28th edition.

The Nice Baie des Anges Prize

Eight novels were selected by the members of the jury of the Nice Baie des Anges prize at the Romain Gary Library, on Tuesday 12 March, for the annual meeting of the City of Nice's literary prize dedicated to the novel. Sponsored and endowed by the city of Nice, this prize rewards a novel published in the twelve months preceding the Nice Book Festival.

– Human Warmth, Serge JONCOUR, (Albin Michel)
– In Klara's Belly, Régis JAUFFRET (Récamier)
– Until Death Ensues, Olivier ROLIN (Gallimard)
– The Unknown in the Portrait, Camille DE PERETTI (Calmann-Lévy)
– The Language of Hidden Things, Cécile COULON (L'Iconoclaste)
– Louisiana, Julia MAYLE (Stock)
– The Italian mistress, Jean-Marie ROUART, of the Académie française (Gallimard)

The jury: Chaired by Franz-Olivier Giesbert, the jury includes the writers, Paule Constant, from the Académie Goncourt, Irène Frain, Aurélie de Gubernatis, Didier van Cauwelaert, Laurent Seksik, Jean-Lug Gagliolo, Deputy Mayor of Nice and Nicolas Galup. A jury of ten readers, lovers of books and words, is also involved in the deliberations. The winner will be announced on May 16.

The Nice Baie des Anges Prize will be awarded on Friday 31 May by Christian Estrosi, at the opening of the 28th edition of the Nice Book Festival (31 May, 1 & 2 June 2024).

Since its creation in 1996, this literary prize has been awarded to novelists: Patrick Renaudot, Raoul Mille, Franz-Olivier Giesbert, Gérard de Cortanze, Claude Imbert, Jean-Noël Pancrazi, Paula Jacques, Vénus Khoury-Ghata, Richard Millet, Eric Fottorino, Jean-Paul Enthoven, Didier van Cauwelaert, Saphia Azzeddine and René Frégni, Daniel Cordier, Laurent Seksik, Aurélie Hustin de Gubernatis, Romain Slocombe, Valérie Tong Cuong, Sylvain Tesson, Jérôme Garcin, Akli Tadjer, Barbara Israël, Jean Siccardi, Daniel Picouly, Jean-Luc Barré, David Foenkinos and Thierry Vimal, Philippe Besson.
