150 years of Impressionism with the Musée d'Orsay

In 2024, the Ministry of Culture and the Musée d'Orsay are celebrating 150 years of Impressionism. In parallel with the exhibition "Paris 1874. Inventing Impressionism" to be held in Paris, some 180 works exceptionally loaned by the Musée d'Orsay are to be discovered in more than 30 museums in France.

Before the exhibition dedicated to Berthe Morisot, the Musée des Beaux-Arts Jules Chéret will present a masterpiece by Claude Monet in the spring of 2024.

Painted for Berthe Morisot, the work was designed by Claude Monet as a decorative panel to adorn the living room-studio of his Parisian apartment. She was able to admire it on a daily basis. This intimacy between the viewer and the masterpiece is recreated at the Musée des Beaux-Arts, which welcomes visitors in a comfortable contemplation space, with familiar notes.

Representing the Villas in Bordighera, this painting testifies to the attachment of the two painters to the Riviera, which they visited several times in the 1880s. Berthe Morisot's stays in Nice will be at the heart of the exhibition "Berthe Morisot in Nice. Impressionist Stopovers" which will open its doors on June 7, 2024 and will continue the celebration of Impressionism in Nice.

The arrival of Claude Monet's masterpiece at the Musée des Beaux-Arts on April 5, 2024 will be accompanied by numerous thematic visits and workshops:

12 p.m. – visit-tasting (20 min). Price: entrance ticket price + 6.20 euros

European Night of Museums, Saturday 18 May 2024

One bite, one work! The cocktail at the Musée des Beaux-Arts

Combining the pleasure of the eye and the taste, of the work and the palate, this is the sensory experience offered by the Museum of Fine Arts on the occasion of the European Night of Museums. Chefs Daniele and Diane Mundo have concocted an appetizer inspired by Monet's masterpiece The Villas in Bordighera. Tasting tours are exceptionally offered to the public.
